Texas Test Plugs provide a permanent, economical access point for measuring pressure or temperature in piping systems. A technician inserts a compatible pressure gauge adapter or temperature probe through the self-sealing valve core, takes the reading and removes the instrument when testing is complete.
Available in C36000 brass, lead-free brass, 303 stainless steel and 304 stainless steel for HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, geothermal, natural-gas and data-center cooling applications.
Select the body material and connection that best match the piping system, operating environment and project requirements.
BSPT, BSPP and other nonstandard connections may be available in production quantities.

C36000 brass is our most widely used material for general HVAC and hydronic service. It offers dependable performance, excellent machinability and economical pricing.
Standard 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch NPT configurations are available. Special-quote 1/8-inch NPT and BSPP configurations are also available.
Common applications include:
• HVAC systems
• Hydronic heating and cooling
• Boilers and pumps
• Heat exchangers
• General industrial piping
Lead-free brass is available for potable-water systems and other applications requiring lead-free wetted components.
Available with 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch NPT connections.
Common applications include:
• Potable-water systems
• Plumbing systems
• Commercial buildings
• Applications requiring lead-free components
303 Stainless Steel
303 stainless steel combines corrosion resistance with excellent machinability. It is a dependable choice for demanding HVAC, hydronic, geothermal, industrial and data-center cooling applications.
Available with 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch NPT connections.
Common applications include:
• Chilled-water systems
• Glycol systems
• Data-center cooling
• Geothermal equipment
• Mechanical rooms
• Industrial piping
304 stainless steel provides additional corrosion resistance for applications in which system
conditions or project specifications call for 304 stainless steel.
Available with 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch NPT connections.
Common applications include:
• Data-center cooling systems
• Chilled-water and glycol systems
• Geothermal systems
• Corrosive or demanding environments
• Projects specifying 304 stainless steel
Texas Test Plugs are available in standard and extended-length configurations for insulated piping and applications requiring additional access length.
Selected stainless steel configurations are available in lengths up to 3 inches.
The valve core creates a self-sealing access point for pressure and temperature measurements.
Two elastomer options are available to accommodate different operating temperatures and system fluids.
Valve-Core Material Maximum Temperature
Nordel/EPDM 200°F
Neoprene 300°F
Nordel/EPDM is commonly selected for water, glycol and many HVAC and hydronic applications.
Neoprene is available for applications requiring a higher temperature rating or different fluid compatibility.
Fluid compatibility should always be confirmed before selecting a valve-core material.
Texas Test Plugs have a pressure capability of up to 1,000 PSI under ideal conditions.
Temperature and pressure ratings are separate maximum values and should not be interpreted as simultaneous operating ratings. Actual suitability depends on the system fluid, temperature, pressure, probe diameter, installation and operating conditions.
Special care must be taken when working with hot or pressurized systems. Contact Texas Test Plugs if you need assistance selecting a product for a particular application.
